About Dr. Sokoloff
Dr. Stephen Sokoloff earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from NYU College of Dentistry in 1983. Additionally, he completed an internship at St Charles hospital, a residency in dental anesthesiology and continued on to complete his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at NYU/Bellevue Hospital. For over 36 years he has practiced on Long Island as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He has been an assistant professor at Stony Brook University School of Dentistry where he has taught many dental students and mentored oral surgery residents for over 30 years. Dr. Sokoloff was previously the Director of Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Brookhaven Hospital, treating many trauma victims and patients with severe dental infections in Suffolk County. He is board certified and a diplomate of 3 organizations: American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, National Dental Board of Anesthesiology and the International Congress of Oral Implantology. Dr. Sokoloff is president of the Eastern LI Dental Implant Study Club which he personally founded in 1997 and continues to run today. This study club educates many of our local dentists in the latest techniques, technology and treatment in the field of dental implants.
Aside from being an acclaimed clinician, Dr. Sokoloff is a Colonel in the US Army Reserve Dental Corps – Medical Command and attached to Fort Bragg. He has served in the Army and continues to serve our country since 2007. Col Sokoloff deployed during Christmas 2008 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He remains a decorated officer in the US Army Reserve and has received multiple Army commendation medals.
